Say Goodbye to Your Double Chin: Expert Kybella Delivery near Philadelphia

Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that permanently contours and improves the appearance of a double chin, jowls, and other small pockets of fat. The medication effectively destroys the submental fat cells accumulated on the neck and chin. The kidneys and intestines then safely and naturally excrete these fat cells. Multiple treatments may be required to reach optimal results. The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the fat, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your aesthetic goal—the results are permanent. Though typically used for double chins, Kybella can also treat stubborn armpit or bra fat and jowl areas.

The Kybella Procedure

The Kybella procedure is nonsurgical, quick, and generally well-tolerated. During the treatment, a healthcare provider administers precise injections beneath the chin to break down and dissolve excess fat cells. This process usually takes 15-20 minutes. Recovery from Kybella is often straightforward, with minimal downtime. Temporary side effects like swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are common but typically resolve within a few days. Most individuals can resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure, making Kybella an attractive option for those seeking a more defined and youthful neck and jawline without the hassle of surgery. Multiple treatment sessions may be necessary for optimal results, with improvements gradually becoming more apparent over several weeks.

How Long Does Kybella Take to Administer?

At your first appointment in our office, we go over education on the products, areas of treatment, and evaluation of your concerns. This typically takes 30 minutes, even if you have had Kybella done at another office. After your first visit, Kybella appointments generally take a quick 15 minutes.

Does Kybella Hurt?

Each injection is administered through tiny needles. To reduce discomfort, we apply ice before treatment to help distract from the poke of the needle and reduce the risk of bruising. We add lidocaine to Kybella to ease the injections.

Is Kybella Safe?

With the appropriate injection technique, Kybella is an FDA-approved procedure that is safe and effective for all genders.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The most common side effects are temporary bruising, swelling, pain, numbness, and redness at the injection site. Some patients experience hair loss, open sores, damage, and tissue cell death around the injection site. Patients can experience trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness. However, studies suggest trouble swallowing resolves on its own in a median of 3 days, and nerve injury in the jaw resolves in a median of 44 days. We recommend you check our post-care guidelines after getting the Kybella procedure.

When Will I See Results?

Results are typically seen two months after treatment. Multiple treatments are typically needed.

How Many Kybella Treatments Will I Need?

The treatment plans with Kybella are tailored to each individual. At your consultation, we will recommend an estimated number of treatments. Results can vary.
