Have a Question?

*We offer several different Medical Grade Peels.  The Vi Peel, Refresh Peel and Refresh Peel Plus. Medical grade peels go beyond removing dead skin and work to refresh the skin by remodeling live skin.  All of our peels contain TCA or trichloroacetic acid, retin A, and Vitamin C at different percentages. TCA is non toxic and has been used to perform chemical peels for years. TCA causes the top layers of cells to peel off exposing a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and more even color.  As all chemical peels cause redness and flaking we recommend planning them around a time in your schedule that you can avoid big events, or work engagements. All peels are recommended to take place closer to the fall and winter months, as sun exposure is not advised. The VI peel is the lightest TCA peel, the Refresh peel is stronger and the Nu Peel is even stronger. A consult is required before scheduling your first peel.

Does it hurt?

The discomfort that you will feel during a peel is dependent on the type of peel you are having done. Stinging can last from anywhere of a few minutes to hours. On a scale of 1-10 patients have reported a discomfort level between 0-6 during the application of the process. Advil or Tylenol can be taken prior to the peel. Rest assured, If the pain is unbearable for you at any time, we can instantly neutralize it. For those with a low tolerance for any level of discomfort, the Vi Peel is the least aggressive of the peels.

How long do I have to leave the peel on?

The length of time can vary. Typically the longer you leave it on the better the peel can work for you. If there is any discomfort you can wash the peel off of your skin.

Do I need to stay home after having the peel done?
We do recommend you return home after the treatment as your face should not be exposed to the sun, however with general sun precautions you are free to resume your normal activities.

How will my face look after the peel?

Typically the face will have a red appearance after the application. We do advise patients to return home after the treatment. You can be functional during the week of the peel, however you should avoid major social or business engagements for the week. You will experience sunburn type flaking and peeling. Intense sun exposure should be avoided during that week. The use of SPF and moisturizers are strongly recommended.

How often can I do this peel?
Chemical Peels can be implemented into your monthly beauty maintenance routine and the doctor can discuss a plan that best suits your skin type.
