*Photo Rejuvenation is a series of intense pulsed light treatments that improve the overall complexion of your skin. Photo Rejuvenation specifically targets rosacea, flushing, broken capillaries, sun damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photo aging. Treatments can also benefit mild acne scars, reduce large pores, and reduces fine wrinkle lines. Treatments are especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs. This exciting treatment involves little or no "down time". You can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure.
An intense light is applied in a series of light pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the upper layer of the skin, the light reaches the deeper layers to correct problem areas at their source. The heat causes damage to the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process. The lesion will darken before it flakes off and the body absorbs it.

How many treatments will I need?
A treatment plan will be made during a consult.
What is a treatment like?
Treatment time may vary depending on the size of the area to be treated. First, the treated area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to the snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the gel is removed, the skin cleansed, and a sunscreen is applied. Topical anesthesia can be used for maximum comfort. For sensitive skin, a cool compress is applied following treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Serious side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment the skin will appear red and brown pigmented spots may appear darker. Rarely, temporary swelling, blistering or bruising can occur.
What improvement will I see?
Patients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Expect to see a gradual decrease in redness, broken capillaries, flushing, irregular pigmentation, pore size and fine lines. After each treatment, the skin will feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone.
Who should NOT have the procedure?
Skin rejuvenation is not advisable for patients with various skin diseases. It is not advisable for pregnant women, nor is it safe for those who may have received or plan to receive excess sun exposure. It should not be performed on patients taking Accutane or for three months after stopping Accutane. The procedure is not usually performed on patients with active acne cysts, large pustules, or highly active rosacea, or active herpes (fever blisters).
What are the skin conditions not likely to be helped by a Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation?
It will not improve the appearance of frown lines, which are the lines of expression on the face, especially on the forehead and between the brows. It will not help baggy or sagging skin, puffiness around the eyes, or skin cancer.
Is the procedure painful?
There is some amount of discomfort. It is our experience that a topical anesthetic is not necessary in the majority of patients.
