Removing Your Spider
Veins Using Vein Therapy

Vein therapy is a treatment used to correct damaged, enlarged, or unsightly veins. We develop visible veins when the valves in the veins weaken, allowing blood to flow backward and accumulate. Two different types of veins appear as a result of this back-flow: spider veins and varicose veins. Spider veins are thread-like red veins seen on the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are more prominent veins, often bulging from the skin. Though spider and varicose veins are most often seen in the legs, these unwanted veins can also be present on the face and other areas of the body. Here at Gambhir Cosmetic Medicine, we can erase these veins with sclerotherapy and laser therapy—our providers deliver precision spider vein removal using a combination of these treatments to erase spider veins from your body effectively.

Vein Therapy

Before & After

Sclerotherapy is an injected medication that intentionally irritates the blood vessels, collapsing the vein. Once the vein collapses, it creates internal scar tissue, and the vein fades from view. Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective procedure that has been in use since the 1930s.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy produces a beam of light, selectively absorbed by the hemoglobin in the vein, that collapses the vein. By targeting only the hemoglobin, we minimize damage to the surrounding skin.

The Vein Therapy Procedure & Recovery

During vein therapy at Gambhir Cosmetic Medicine, we use sclerotherapy and laser therapy to target and minimize the appearance of unwanted veins. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the problematic veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade. Alternatively, laser therapy employs concentrated light to heat and close off the veins, rendering them less visible over time.
Full recovery is relatively swift, and many patients can return to their daily activities shortly after the procedure, enjoying the long-term benefits of smoother, more evenly-toned skin. If you’re ready to regain confidence and rejuvenate your skin, our vein therapy services at Gambhir Cosmetic Medicine are here to assist you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Vein Therapy Hurt?

Each sclerotherapy injection is administered through tiny needles. To reduce discomfort, we apply ice before treatment to help distract from the poke of the needle and reduce the risk of bruising. At worst, some patients describe a feeling of a rubber band snapping against their skin with laser therapy. Our lasers have a specialized cooling device built in, which makes the procedure much more comfortable. We also offer to prescribe topical anesthetic so not much discomfort is felt at all.
Common side effects of vein therapy include redness, swelling, soreness, and scabbing, though this typically subsides. Infrequent side effects include permanent scarring, new vein formation, pigment stains, or ulcers. Please check out post-care vein therapy guidelines for aftercare instructions.
Depending on the treatment area, exercise is not advised for at least seven days. Compression stockings may be recommended for at least seven days for leg veins. Sun exposure should be minimal for 6-8 weeks after treatment, and sunscreen with an SPF greater than 30 SPF should be used during any sun exposure.
